Discover Montana Outfitting offers spot and stalk spring bear hunting trips.

Our location in Southwest Montana is known to hold many bears in color phase, ranging in color from blonde to cinnamon to chocolate to jet black. The mountains are beautiful in the spring, with snow-capped peaks, fresh green grass, and sprouting mountain wildflowers. You’re also bound to spot other animals, like deer, elk, and moose.

The bear hunt is spot and stalk, combined with still hunting timber. We usually take advantage of high points to glass. This is a foot hunt, so keep in mind a physically fit hunter has a better chance of harvesting a bear. Hunters are welcome to bow or rifle hunt. Weather this time of the year is unpredictable, but we can usually hunt every day, focusing on afternoons and evenings.

The hunt includes all meals, lodging, travel to hunting location, guide, and game retrieval. Not included: a hunting license (price is set by state, currently $350), meat processing, taxidermy, gratuities, transport from and to the airport. All hunters must pass the Montana Bear ID Test, administered by Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks.

Price: Five days of hunting, six nights | $4,500 for one hunter | $6,000 for two hunters
